Obituary

Genevieve Teresa Gorsuch (Schauber), 88, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2023 in her home in Cottonwood, Arizona, having been surrounded by her children, their spouses, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.

Genevieve was born in Chestertown, Maryland on July 10th, 1934, the 11th child (of 16) of the late Adam B. Schauber and the late Ella Hurd Schauber.

Genevieve married the love of her life, Richard Earl Gorsuch on June 27, 1954. They had an eternal love affair most people aspire to. They sang "Good morning to you" every morning, which she continued to do after his death.

Genevieve, AKA Ginky or Munner Munner, had many hats through the years. Working on her Daddy's dairy farm in Still Pond, MD; waitress at the Rigby in Betterton, MD; switchboard operator; Avon representative; volunteer candy striper; and aide to Richard on the special needs bus in Kent County for 17 years all while raising 4 amazing children and being actively involved in her grandchildren's lives.

Genevieve was one of the first Lady Lions in the Betterton/Still Pond Lions Club and was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Award.

Genevieve was a devout Catholic and strongly believed in service to the Lord and others in need. She was active in the Sacred Heart Parish in Chestertown, Maryland where she was a Eucharistic Minister and sang in the choir for many years, among other things. She continued her spiritual journey at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cottonwood, AZ.

Genevieve is survived by her 4 children: Elizabeth Smail (Stephen) of Cottonwood, AZ, Richard Gorsuch (Roxanne) of Roberts, MT, Julia Trainor (Jim) of Cornville, AZ, and George Gorsuch (Cara) of Boise, ID; 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great grand bunny. Genevieve was also survived by 5 siblings, Rosemary Dana, William Schauber, Albert Schauber, Donald Schauber and James Schauber.

Genevieve was preceded in death by her Love, Richard Earl Gorsuch, and 10 siblings: Bonnie Perriraz, Bernard Schauber, Walter Schauber, Thomas Schauber, Edward Schauber, George Schauber, Mary Keenan, Lawrence Schauber, Adam Schauber, Jr. and Paul Schauber.

A mass will be held at Sacred Heart Parish in Chestertown, MD on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 11:00 am with reception to follow in the church hall.

Genevieve believed in giving of her time, love, and attention. She lived life with such grace and joy and gave of herself freely and selflessly. She believed in "keeping in touch" and did just that.

In lieu of flowers - perhaps send a card or letter to someone you care about; make a call or send a text; give of yourself to someone in need.
