Obituary

Frederick William Spitzenberger,

April 4th, 1960 – October 8th, 2024

Fred passed away on Tuesday, October 8th after a long and brave battle with cancer.  He was 64 years of age.

Fred was survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Robin Spitzenberger, his three children, Emily Neff, Kiersten DeFluri and Erik Spitzenberger, and his brother, Richard Spitzenberger.

Fred grew up on Long Island with love of the water.  He enjoyed boating, sailing, fishing and clamming.  While boating on Long Island, he met his wife, Robin.  He was an avid New York Rangers fan.  His first daughter, Emily, was born the same year they won the Stanley Cup, and he was often found skipping out of the delivery room to watch a game.  In 2005, the family relocated to Pennsylvania where he supported his wife and kids' dreams and passions.  In September 2020, Fred and his wife moved to Maryland on the Sassafras River, where they retired and joyfully rekindled their love for the water and boating.  Fred was a machinist by trade and managed production for over 40 years.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Fred's life on Saturday October 19th at 11 am at the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD 21635
