Elma Gustafson Myers, “Sis” 76 of Worton, MD passed away on May 28, 2026 at home.
Sis was born on November 7, 1949, in Chestertown, MD, daughter of the late Elmer E. and Jennie V. (Grussing) Gustafson. She was a lifetime resident of Kent County and a graduate of Chestertown High School Class of 1967. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Kenny Myers, for 46 years. They raised their family on Possum Hollow Farm and dedicated their life to farming. Later, Sis worked for the MD State Highway Administration in Chestertown for 25 years.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend; her greatest joy in life was her family. Sis leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and laughter. Everyone who knew her also knew of her delightfully stubborn streak and her determination to do things her way. Her devotion to her family was rivaled only by her enthusiasm for her favorite teams: the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens. A true Marylander at heart, she loved crabbing and could spend hours around a table picking crabs with family and friends. When she wasn’t watching a game or enjoying a crab feast, Sis loved gathering for a lively game of cards, where her competitive spirit and quick wit always shined through.
She was deeply committed to her faith and was a cherished and active member of her church community. She generously dedicated her time to serving on various committees, participating in local community missions, and volunteering at countless church suppers and chicken BBQs. In addition to her hands-on service, she was famous among her family and friends for her legendary mashed potatoes and her signature pretzel salad. No gathering, potluck, or holiday was complete without them, and she happily fulfilled the standing requests to bring her beloved dishes to every event.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth A. Myers Sr. (Kenny); and sisters, Betty Unruh, Ellen Kelley and Jennie Rodney.
Sis is survived by her children, Kenneth A. Myers, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Trappe; Edward Myers (Amy) of Worton; Jennifer Kriebel (Greg) of Conshohocken, PA and Julie Giannone (Jay) of East Norriton, PA; 9 grandchildren - Brandon and Ryan Myers, Alex and Justin Kriebel, Xavier, Isla and Emerson Giannone, Albert and Laura Myers; a sister Mariann Dulin (Frank) of Chestertown, MD; her twin brother Elmer Gustafson (Marsha) of Marshfield, MO; brothers-in-law David Kelley of Chestertown, MD and Vernon Rodney of Rock Hall, MD; her beloved cat, Gracie; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 29 from 10am to 12pm Monday, June 29 at the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, Galena, MD with a memorial service at 12 noon.
