Elizabeth Wessells McCloskey Smith, 95 of Elkton, MD, formerly of Hallwood, VA, passed away on August 19, 2022 at Abbey Manor, Elkton, MD.

Mrs. Smith was born on September 18, 1926, daughter of the late Harry L. Wessells, Sr. and Stella Slocumb Wessels.  Elizabeth received her business accounting degree from Goldey Beacom College in Wilmington, DE.  She worked as a bookkeeper for Bell Telephone for 10 years.  Elizabeth was a member of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her 1 ^st husband of 15 years, Vaughn Arthur McCloskey in 1963, second husband of 55 years, Arthur E. Smith in 2022; her grandson Todd McCloskey; brothers, John Henry Wessells and Harry L. Wessells, Jr. and a sister Eloise C. Koons.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her sons Arthur McCloskey and his wife Macey of Earleville, MD and Allen McCloskey and his wife Hope of Chesapeake City, MD; grandchildren Arthur McCloskey II of Earleville, MD, Allen McCloskey II (Christy) of Clayton, DE and Matthew McCloskey (Jamie) of Warwick, MD; great grandchildren, Alexandra McCloskey, Allen McCloskey III, Andrew McCloskey, Austin McCloskey and Harrison McCloskey.

A graveside service was held on September 17, 2022 at Downings U.M. Cemetery. Hallwood, VA.
