Elizabeth Stratton Moore, age 99, peacefully passed away on March 31st, 2025 at Heron Point in Chestertown, MD. Loving family members were at her side.
Liz was born in Moorestown, N.J. on February 13, 1926 to Roland P. Stratton and Edna Harding Stratton. She was the youngest of three children and was called Betty Ann until later in life when she asked to be called Liz. She attended Moorestown Friends School and was a lifetime member of the Moorestown Friends Meeting.
After High School, Liz worked at the Sun Oil Company Headquarters in Philadelphia as their Executive Receptionist. Liz married John Francis Moore on May 8,1948 and moved to his family farm in Mt. Laurel, N.J. where they raised their four children. Liz and John transitioned their residence from Mt. Laurel to Sudlersville, MD in the early 1990's, along with their two sons who continue to farm.
Liz volunteered weekly at the Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mt. Holly, N.J., for over 30 years, driving an hour and a half from Sudlersville after moving to Maryland. She was a member of the Homemakers Club of Sudlersville and attended the Calvary Asbury Methodist Church.
Liz loved spending time in Ocean City, N.J., traveling, collecting jewelry and teddy bears, and eating spaghetti. She was very dedicated to her dogs and supported several Animal Welfare organizations. But mostly she loved people, especially her family to whom she was very dedicated. She will be remembered for her warm smile and friendly, outgoing personality.
Liz was preceded in death by her husband, John, her sister, Virginia Elwell, her brother, Roland (Bud) Stratton and her parents.
She is survived by her 4 children, Patricia Moore and her partner Keith Rothenberg of Livermore, CA, John Stanley Moore of Millington, MD, Granville Stephen Moore and his wife Lorraine of Sudlersville, and Deborah Pryor and her husband William of Mystic, CT. Liz (Gaga/Nana) is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 6, soon to be 7 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the stellar loving staff on WillowBrooke Court (Heron Point) for their years of care.
A private burial will be held and a Celebration of Life later this Spring.
