Obituary

Edmond Joseph Gardner, 90, of Earleville, MD passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026 at AccentCare at Christiana Hospital in Wilmington.

Edmond was born on July 10, 1935, to the late Rainey and Yvonne Gardner.  He was born and raised in Escanaba, Michigan.  He was always a hard worker and while in school he started working for the Railroad and for a logging company.  He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and proudly served his country in the Korean War.  Later work allowed him to travel and throughout the 1960s he moved to Wisconsin and then later to California.  Edmond made his way to the Eastern Shore of Maryland in 1997 when he moved to Earleville.  He fully retired in 2009 and loved his home and retirement.

Edmond enjoyed the history of the United States.  He would often take family trips and travel to places to explore historical sites of the US.  He loved playing golf and spending the day out on the course.  When at home he loved his pet monkeys and enjoyed being on the computer researching his history.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Gladys K. Gardner.

He is survived by his children David Gardner (Diane) of Dallas, TX, Stuart Gardner of Iron WI, Vicki Ellis of Idaho, Jill Gardner of Las Vegas, NV, Becky Guy (Glenn) of Hortense, GA, Kathy Bostick (Chris) Johnstown, NY, Ronald Scoleri (Debbie) of Pennsylvania, Kevin Scoleri (Debbie) of Ridley Park, PA, Nadine Kerti (Eugene) of West Newton, PA, Dawn Hild (Doug) of Lewes, DE, and Jennifer Moore (Tom) Earleville, MD; Siblings Joyce Viau of Las Vegas, NV, Margaret Nault (Steve) of Escanaba, MI, Harold Gardner and Susie Irving of Oklahoma; 29 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
