Obituary

Dorothy 'Doris' Turner, 85 of Elkton, MD formerly of Baltimore, MD passed away on January 4, 2026 at Accent Care Hospice at Franklin Square Hospital.

Doris was born on April 19, 1940, daughter of the late Harry P Turner and Elsie Viola Davis Turner.  She was raised in Cecil County and after graduating from high school she moved to Baltimore.  Doris was a domestic worker caring for prominent families in the Baltimore area including the Jontiff family, Jones family and several others.  Her church was her world, worshiping at the Glorious Church of God in Townsend, DE.

She loved her family and the time she cherished with them.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Robin Maple, grandson, Joseph Maple and her 4 sisters, Mary Louise Watts, Margaret Turner, Emma Jean Turner and Bessie Turner.

Doris is survived by her grandsons, Gary Maple, Jr. and his wife Thomasina and Carlton Maple and his wife Michelle; 11 great grandchildren, Shi`neath D. Maple, Jai`nova N. Maple, Ji`nail N. Maple, Khyla E. Maple, Khiara E. Maple, Draco E. Maple, Cha`nel H. Maple, Ka`cia Maple, Arianah D. Maple, Kalyse E. Maple and Kailani E. Maple; 5 great-greatgrandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, January 10 from 3 to 5 pm in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD where funeral service will begin at 5 pm.  Burial will be held privately in Union Bethel Cemetery.
