Dorothy C. Abel, of Galena, MD passed away peacefully on May 21,2025 at home surrounded by her loving friends at the age of 100.

Dorothy was born on March 26, 1925 in South Plainfield, NJ, daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret Gehrke Boosmann.  She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for many years. Dorothy has lived in Galena since 1981 and was very community minded.  She was a member of Galena Busy Bees and a volunteer and entertainer for 18 years at Magnolia Hall Nursing Home.  She served on the Galena Election Board, and with her sister Helen and dear friend Marian Camp, attended as many town meetings and functions as possible.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter and son in law Robin and Michael Auth, brother Frederick Boosmann and sisters Mary Arrobina and Helen Allen.

She is survived by nephews, Scott Diamond and his wife Paula and Skip Allen and his wife Mary-Jo; a niece, Linda Allen; several great niece, nephews and dear friends Ethel and Jack Duhamell and their family and Amy McGee.

Per Dorothy's wishes there will be no service.

Donations may be offered to Galena V.F.C, Olivet Methodist Church or the Betty Carroll Food Ministry.
