Don Walters, 71, of Pikesville, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on February 12, 2025, after a courageous 10-year battle with cancer. Born in Galena, Maryland, he was the beloved son of Addie Hendrickson Walters and Clara Virginia Walters (nee: Davis), both of whom preceded him in death.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Michele Walters; his sons, Corey Walters and Adam Walters (Caralyn Welliver); and his precious grandchildren, Charlie and Penelope Walters. He is also survived by his brother, Doug Walters (Christine Walters), and his sister, Ellen Wallace (Stanley Wallace). He was preceded in death by his brother, David Walters.

Known for his kindness, calm demeanor, and gentle spirit, Don touched the lives of all who knew him. He spent his career as an accounting clerk for various organizations including the Baltimore County Public School System, but his greatest fulfillment came from the relationships and passions that enriched his life beyond work. He was a lover of folk music and dance, an avid hiker, a devoted reader who championed public libraries, and an enthusiastic fan of trivia game shows. His generosity extended beyond those close to him—he was a frequent blood donor, always seeking ways to help others.

Family and friends are invited to gather for shiva from Sunday, February 16, through Tuesday, February 18, at the family home (8149 Scotts Level Rd, Pikesville, MD 21208). Visitation hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., with a Jewish prayer service taking place each evening at 7:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at Owen Brown Interfaith Center, Meeting Hall A, in Columbia, MD, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 21. A private family graveside ceremony will take place in Galena, MD, on Saturday, February 22.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Baltimore Folk Music Society (bfms.org/donate.php), Hopewell Cancer Support (hopewellcancersupport.org/donate), or a charity of your choice. Please also consider donating blood in Don's honor, continuing his legacy of giving.

Don's warmth, wisdom, and unwavering kindness will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
