Donald Hansen Schubert, D.M.D.

Donald Hansen Schubert, D.M.D., "Doc", 80, of Hacks Point, Earleville, MD passed away on September 4, 2024 at his home on the Bohemia River.
Dr. Schubert was born on May 27, 1944, in Staten Island, NY, son of the late Frederick and Elsa Hansen Schubert. He graduated from Conestoga High School in Berwyn, PA in1962. He went on
to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania in1966, where he also completed his D.M.D. in 1970. He served in the U.S. Public Health Service from 1970-72, spending time in Anchorage, AK and The Cherokee Indian Reservation in Cherokee, NC. For the next 28 years Dr. Don was a beloved family dentist in West Chester, PA. He retired in 2001.
Don's favorite things were "family, food and fun" He enjoyed watching the Bohemia from his front deck, building boats, traveling to watch his grandkids in their various activities, hosting
family gatherings at the cottage, stopping by McDonalds whenever possible to enjoy a large vanilla milkshake, spending time on his farm training his dogs, Fritz and Earl, hunting with friends new and old, and learning the history of everything.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lynne Albee and his grandson, Henry Reed.
Dr. Don is survived by his best friend and life partner, Jackie Olson; his ex-wife, JoAnn Schubert, the mother of his daughters Amy Schubert Reed (Matt) of Arnold, MD, Margaret Jeannette Burgo (Stephen) of Berwyn, PA and Emily Schubert Phelan (David) of Berwyn, PA; a sister, Elaine Springstead of Carlisle, PA; and his grandchildren, Kate, Fritz and Sally Reed, Elsa and Will Burgo and Norah and Colin Phelan.
A memorial Service celebrating the life of Doc Schubert will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Shrewsbury Parish Church, Kennedyville , MD.
A celebration of life service will be held in West Chester on November 30th. Details will be announced later.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Caron Foundation (www.caron.org).
