Dennis A. Christy, Jr., 77 of Elkton formerly of Warwick, MD passed away on April 19, 2023, at Christiana Care-Union Hospital in Elkton.
Dennis was born on May 19, 1945, son of the late Dennis A. Christy, Sr. and Lillian Virginia Ringgold Christy, he was born in Sassafras and raised in Earleville. Dennis was a 1963 graduate of George Washington Carver School where he was Valedictorian of his class. Dennis attended a year at Morgan State University and began his career with General Motors in Newark, retiring in 2003 after 38 years of service. He loved volunteering at the Paris Foundation and teaching students at Christiana Care-First State School. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Cecilton where he was active with youth ministry. He was an avid gardener and shared his bounty with others.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred Ashe, Bernetta Lambert, Lillian (Baby Sis) and Joseph Christy.
Dennis is survived by his 3 children, Michael Lamont Christy, Sr., (Billene) of Henderson, TN, Timothy Leland Christy of Elkton, MD and Monica Renea Christy of Newark, DE; the mother of his children, Odessa Perkins Christy of Harrington, DE; sisters, Esther Pritchett (Arlington) of Pondtown, MD and Alice Riddick (Joe) of Randallstown, MD; brother, Alan Christy (Jennifer) of Chestertown, MD; 6 grandchildren, Dr. Shiradon
Kirk, Ed.D. (Tommy), Eric Fletcher, Chavonna Young (Justin), Michael L. Christy, II (Tabitha), Kiriel Christy, and Stephan Christy and 5 great grandchildren, MaKinley, Xavier and Hadley Christy and Khloe and Kennedy Kirk. Special nieces Sherri Pritchett, Connie Brown (Arthur) and Lisa Penn-Jones (Keith). One aunt, Ethylene Ringgold, two best friends, Lester Watson and Charles Givens and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, April 29 from 10 to 12 at Zion United Methodist Church, Cecilton, MD, where funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Burial will follow in Bohemia Manor Cemetery, Chesapeake City, MD.
