David Bell Herd, 89, of Rock Hall, passed away at home on January 19, 2023.

Mr. Herd was born on September 29, 1933 in Glasgow, Scotland, son of the late Andrew F. and Jeanie Bell Herd. He was raised in Scotland and at the age of 14, his family moved to the United States, making their home in Wilmington, Delaware. After graduating high school, he began his career with The Dupont Company in 1953 and in 1956 he was drafted into the United States Navy. Upon his honorable discharge, he continued his career with Dupont. Retiring in 1985, after 32 years of dedicated service. In 1987, David moved to Rock Hall, where he enjoyed boating, cars and wood working.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William F. Herd, sister Christabel Murphy, nephew Douglass Murphy, niece Robin Murphy.

David is survived by his nieces and nephews, David Murphy, Daniel Murphy, Esther Edwards and Deanie Ridenauer.

Services will be held privately by the family.
