David S. Commodore, 3rd, 41 of Rock Hall, MD, passed away on March 21, 2026, at home.
David was born on January 11, 1985, in Chestertown, MD, son of Donnette Laverne Perkins Commodore and the late David S. Commodore, Jr. He was a lifetime resident of Kent County where he was a graduate of Kent County High School. While at school he was a linebacker for the football team which he loved. He attended college and later spent his career working in public safety; first as a Correction Officer and later as a Armed Security Officer. He was good at his job and he loved his work.
As a young boy he joined Asbury United Methodist Church in Georgetown, where he enjoyed attending. He was an excellent saxophone player and would often play in church. His favorite song to play on the saxophone was "I Believe I Can Fly". He was also an avid sports fan who had a passion for the Baltimore Ravens. His daughter was his whole world and his best friend, and they would attend Ravens games together. He also enjoyed being outside fishing and watching Wrestling.
He was preceded in death by his father David Commodore Jr., paternal grandparents David 'Stanley' Commodore Sr. and Silvia Commodore, and maternal grandfather Edward Perkins.
David is survived by his mother Donnette L. Commodore; his daughter Essence Commodore and her mother Sentra Garsea-Smith; brother Derrick Commodore; maternal grandmother Margaret A. Perkins; uncle Edward Perkins, III; aunts Areatha Perkins (Deb) and Phyliss Barnes (Steven); special cousin Christiana Rochester and Tanisha Walley; best friend Myeshia Gross and a host of loving cousins, extended family and friends.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, April 4 from 11 am to 12 pm in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD where funeral service will begin at 12 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L.Schaech to help honor the loss of David.
