Darrin Christy Jr., affectionately known as Mannie, D. Chris, and Teddy, age 34, passed away. A devoted father, loving son, and cherished brother, he lived a life marked by strength, discipline, and deep love for family.
Darrin began playing football at the age of five in the NCCFL and went on to compete at Smyrna High School and Howard University. Football shaped his character and instilled values of resilience, brotherhood, and pride that remained with him throughout his life.
He was passionate about fitness and physical wellness, committing himself to strength, health, and self-improvement, and inspiring others through his dedication and example.
Darrin's greatest joy was being a father. He is survived by his two-year-old son, Darrin Saint Christy, who was the light of his life and his greatest legacy.
He is survived by his parents, Darrin Christy Sr. (Vonda) of Chesapeake City, Maryland, and Michon Schwartz (Robert) of Miami, Florida; his siblings, Taquoya Strickland (David) of Middletown, Delaware; Mishae Christy of Miami, Florida; Dominique Grigg of Baltimore, Maryland; Darrin Hurtt of Delaware; Dalia Christy of Chesapeake City, Maryland; and Devaughn of New Jersey; his nephews, Asher and Eli; and nieces, Charlee and Cadence.
He is also survived by his grandparents, Miriam Larkin of Wilmington, Delaware, and Larry Harris (Diane) of Chesapeake City, Maryland, along with his godmother and aunt, Cynthia Casteel, and many extended family members and dear friends.
Darrin was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Elsie Christy.
He is fondly remembered by his football family, including his Howard University Bison Boyz teammates, fellow players, and the coaches and mentors who supported him throughout his athletic journey.
Darrin will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, and the love he gave so freely. His legacy lives on through his son and all who knew and loved him.
A viewing will be held on December 27 from 9:45 am to 10:45 am at the Cathedral of Fresh Fire, 2300 Northeast Blvd. Wilmington, DE 19802, where funeral service will begin at 11 am.
