Daniel Ernesto Pavón, 84 of Chestertown, MD passed away on December 23, 2021 at The
Resorts at Chester River Manor.
Daniel Pavón was born on January 7, 1937 in Banes, Oriente, Cuba, son of the late Daniel
Antonio Pavón and Estrella Cordoves Sierra Pavón. At the age of 15 he came to the United
States to attend Olney Friends School in Barnesville, Ohio, residing in West Chester,
Pennsylvania when not at boarding school. He became a citizen of the United States of America
in November 1962.
Daniel owned and operated several businesses including Eastern Environmental Controls in
Chestertown, MD and Aquarobic LTD in Canada and the USA. Throughout his life he had lived
in many places; Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and Canada. He also loved to spend time in
Anguilla, BWI where he maintained a residence for a short time and made many friends. He
always said that the island of Anguilla reminded him of his birthplace. He retired in 2011 and
permanently moved to Maryland to be closer to family.
Known to his large, extended family and friends as "Dan", "Dad", "Danielito", "Uncle",
"Cousin" and "Abuelo" he loved his 'la familia' and took great pride in his ancestry. Dan was an
avid collector of historical pictures and stories and was considered the family historian by many.
He was always eager to share this with his children and extended family.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Manuel Pavón in 2016 and the
mother of his children Kathryn Pavón in 2008.
Daniel is survived by his children, Brenda Lyons (Larry) of Chestertown, Barbara Pavón of
Reston, VA, Carol Gerken (David) of Redondo Beach, CA, Chris Pavón (Susan) of Worton and
Peggy Pavón of Chestertown; his sisters, Maria Pavón and Ada Kumar (Sudhir) both of
Pennsylvania and Caridad Eisenbrey (Dennis) of Tennessee; 6 grandchildren and one great
grandchild; Rebecca Hortensius (Ruben) and their son Jesse (Daniel's great grandchild),
Christopher Lyons (Rachel), Dru Pavón, Ana Pavón, Thomas Gerken and Maggie Gerken.
A viewing will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022, from 12 to 1 pm at the Middletown Friends
Meeting House, 435 N. Middletown Rd., Lima, PA, where service will begin at 1 pm. Burial in
adjoining cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to Middletown Friends Meeting House, c/o Joseph B. Stratton, 1631 East Street Rd., Glen Mills, PA 19342-9518 or the American Diabetes Association. arrangements by Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech.
