Catherine V. Carpenter, 84, of Earleville, MD, passed away on October 2, 2023 at Abbey Manor, Elkton, MD.

Mrs. Carpenter was born on January 22, 1939, daughter of the late Walter and Laura Davis Barcus.  She was raised in Chesapeake City and was a graduate of Chesapeake City High School.

After her marriage to Roy, she moved to Earleville and in 1967 to Blythewood Farm which they owned and operated.  Catherine drove a school bus and for 25 years was the store manager at the Beach House until her retirement.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Roy A. Carpenter, Jr. in 2019, a son, Charles A. Carpenter in 1970 and her siblings, Walter and Butch Barcus and Betty Kline.

Mrs. Carpenter is survived by 3 children, Constance Przybylek (Jack) of Bear, DE, Roy W. Carpenter (Susan) and Catherine Rehfuss (John) all of Earleville; 3 grandchildren, John Rehfuss, Monica Rehfuss and Courtney Carpenter and a great granddaughter Abigael Bristow.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 18 from 10 to 11 am in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, Galena, MD, where funeral service will begin at 11am.  Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery, Cecilton, MD

The family would like to thank Abbey Manor for taking care of our mom during the last couple years.  She wanted a place where she felt safe, and she frequently said she felt comfortable there.  And thanks to the Abbey Manor and Amedisys for the love and support you gave mom and our family during her last couple weeks.
