Calvin E. Callis, 73 of Marydel, MD, passed away on March 8, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at Shore Medical Center at Easton.

Mr. Callis was born on February 8, 1952, son of the late Otis Leonard Callis and Elizabeth Myers Callis.  He was raised in Baltimore City with 13 siblings until his marriage in 1971 to Jean. A decade later he and his wife moved to the Eastern Shore living in the Millington-Sudlersville area.  In 1985 Calvin opened Callis & Sons Electric where he retired in 2016 after 31 years of service to the community.

Calvin was a family man who valued spending quality time together. He was an active member of the Moose Lodge where he had served as Governor, he was also a past president of the Kent & Queen Anne's Electrical Association, and he served on the Queen Anne's County Electrical Board for many years.  He loved to shoot pool and was in several leagues and was very involved in his children's sports, including inline and ice Speed Skating, football, and soccer. Anybody that met Calvin could be guaranteed a laugh – even when he wasn't trying.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a great nephew whom he raised, Kirk Callis, and 3 brothers, Leon 'Sonny' Callis, Kenneth 'Buddy' Callis and Ricky Callis.

Calvin is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lorena 'Jean' Schoolden Callis; children, Virginia Bachman of Seaford, DE, Calvin Callis of Marydel, MD, Christopher Callis of Easton, MD, Christina Callis of Philadelphia, PA and Damon Callis of Marydel, MD; siblings, Barbara Luber of Baltimore, MD, Leonard Callis of Glen Burnie, MD, Leona Jagger of Baltimore, MD, Bonnie Serano of Baltimore, MD, Nancy Callis of Balitmore, MD, Shirley Tyler of Shamokin, PA, Wanda Kelly of Dover, PA, Patricia Donnolly of Shamokin, PA, Karen Borne of Las Vegas, NV, and Zina Stalfort of Baltimore, MD, 4 grandchildren, Griffin Callis, Maylie Callis, Mason Callis and Aldace 'Trey' Hynson, his fur babies, Pandy and Halo, grand fur babies, Mark and Diamond and grand cats, Ralphie and Nibbles. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and former foster children.

A viewing will be held on Friday, March 21 from 5 to 8 pm in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD where a service will begin at 7 pm. Flowers are welcome but donations to the Queen Anne's County Animal Services at 201 Clay Dr, Queenstown, MD in Calvin's memory are also encouraged. The family would appreciate if guests brought written memories of Calvin and pictures they are willing to part with for the family to have as a keepsake. Burial will be held privately.
