Obituary

Bonnie Lee M. Fisher, 76 of Earleville, MD passed away on July 28, 2025 at Christiana Hospital.

Bonnie was born on August 7, 1948, daughter of the late Robert Barber and Sylvia Lillian Pecker Barber. She was raised in New York and attended New York University where she received her undergraduate and master's in psychology. Bonnie furthered her education, earning her Doctorate from Temple University.

Bonnie was the Director the of Counseling Center at Washington College in Chestertown, MD retiring in 2014 after 40 years of dedicated service. She also provided counseling for service members of Dover Air Force Base. She was always caring for others, and spent part of her retirement providing counseling online.

Bonnie was an accomplished musician. She grew up playing several instruments and also minored in music during her undergraduate degree. She was the second bassoonist and contra-bassoonist for the Newark Symphony Orchestra for over 40 years. She also traveled throughout the United States, Europe and Israel with her family in a choir, the Mary Green Singers.

Bonnie could often be found at the Middletown dog park on weekday mornings, attending a playgroup for her 80-pound golden doodle and laughing with friends.

Mrs. Fisher is survived by her husband of 40 years, H. Edward Fisher, their daughter Rachel Fisher; 3 brothers, Emmanuel Lann, Jeff Lann and Robert "Bobby" Lann and her sister Cynthia Christou.

The Fishers would like to thank the nursing staff at Christiana Care Hospital for their special care during Bonnie's hospitalization, to her chosen family and professional circle, the Warm Springs Group, for attending to Bonnie's wellbeing, and to her cousin, Ellen Solomon-Furher, for her tireless love and advocacy.

A service Celebrating her life is pending at the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD.
