Elizabeth Short McLennan, "Betty Lou", 80 of Earleville, MD passed away on November 4, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
Betty Lou was born on April 30,1941, daughter of the late James Reese Short and Louise Jones Short. She was raised in Cecilton where her father owned and operated J. Reese Short Insurance Agency, which Betty Lou later became an insurance agent working for her father an also operated until her retirement. She and her husband also owned Town & Country Restaurant in Cecilton.
Betty Lou was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, playing the piano and teaching Sunday School. When her children were in school she was active with the PTA. She loved crocheting, crafts, sewing and watching birds.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert B. McLennan, Sr. and daughter in law Dawn McLennan.
Betty Lou is survived by her children, Robert McLennan, Jr. (Staci McCracken) and Jimmy McLennan, Sr. both of Earleville and Heather Spofford (Bernie) of Chestertown; sisters, Reesa Harris (John) of Washington Boro, PA and Christine Ewing of Idaho; 6 grandchildren, Kevin Cole, Jimmy McLennan, Jr., Hilary Gralewski (Ray) Brittany McLennan, Bobby McLennan, III and Samantha McLennan and 3 great grandchildren, Slade, Grayson and Leo.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 11 from 6 to 8 pm in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, Galena, MD. Casual attire requested.
Memorials may be offered to Cecil County Animal Services, 3280 Augustine Herman Hwy., Chesapeake City, MD 21915
