Barbara Ann Chance, 80 of Galena, MD passed away on April 13, 2024 at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center, Chestertown.

Mrs. Chance was born on November 20, 1943 in Muskogee, OK, daughter of the late John B. Young and Annie Price Shelton.  At the age of 3 her family moved to Maryland where she was raised until her senior year, moving to Dayton, Ohio until her graduation, when Louis Chance of Galena married her 4 days after graduating and returned to the family farm on Dudley Chance Road, Galena.  She had worked for the Rock Hall Sewing Company, drove a school bus for 18 years and helped with the bookwork for the farm.

Barbara was a former member of Grace Apostolic Church until Rev. Hardin's passing in 2021 and is currently a member of Holden's Chapel, Sudlersville, MD

Barbara is survived by her husband of 62 years, John Louis Chance, children, Brenda Louann Patillo (James) of Galena, Brian Louis Chance, Carla J. Chance (Jack Deskins) of Fayetteville, AR and M. Diane Coleman (Tonia) of Millington; sisters, Mary Jane Leager of Rock Hall and Sandy Neiman of Tolchester; 4 grandchildren, Crystal Pacheco, Charles L. Coleman (Victoria), Eric Patillo and Lorelei Patillo; greatgrandchildren, Malisa, John, Payton and Brantley and her dog, Bella.

A viewing will be held on April 19, 2024 from 11 am to 12 pm in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD where funeral service will begin at 12 pm.  Burial will follow in Church Hill Cemetery.
