Andrew Wayne Cox, 56, of Crumpton, MD passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, surrounded by his loving family.

Andy was born in Dover, DE on November 20, 1969; son of Laura Jane Foxx Alleger and the late Larry Wayne Cox. He attended schools in Dover and was a 1988 graduate of Dover High School where he played football. Andy was very patriotic and took pride in his profession as a Correctional Officer for Kent County. He served in that capacity for almost 20 years before his retirement in 2025.

Andy enjoyed the outdoors. He loved being on the water fishing and scuba diving. He also enjoyed hunting, metal detecting and was a gun enthusiast and armorer. He especially loved his collections of knives and playing Call of Duty, both of which he enjoyed with his daughters. Additionally he was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Rock Hall Post 228 and was a former member of the Betterton Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his mother, Laura Jane Foxx Alleger, two loving daughters Lily and Tessa Cox, their mother and Andy’s caretaker Lacey Townsend, and his brother Jeff Cox.
