Allan Eugene Blackiston, 74 of Sassafras, MD passed away peacefully at home on May 20, 2026

Gene, as he was known by all, was born on August 11, 1951, son of the late Claude A. Blackiston, Sr. and Daisy Dell Manlove Blackiston. He was a lifetime resident of Sassafras where he was born and died in the family home. Gene was a graduate of Galena High School Class of 1971. He enlisted with the U.S Marine Corp in 1971 and was honorable discharged in 1975. He also served with the Marine Reserves, Airforce Reserves and the Army Reserves, retiring in 1996. From 1987 through 2010 he worked for the State of Maryland as a Supervisor-Administrator for Courthouses in Elkton, Bel Air and Essex.

Gene was a life member of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, rabbit, duck, geese and deer.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Claude A. Blackiston, Jr. and Thomas M. Blackiston; sisters Audrey Sue Blackiston and Cheryl Ann Siter; and stepsons Tom, Tim and Leslie Watson.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Gloria J. Tucker Blackiston; daughter Genea Kay Smith (Zach) of Gloucester, VA; stepsons, George Watson of Jessup, MD and Greg Watson (Sherri) of Baltimore, MD; siblings, George D. Blackiston of Townsend, DE, James K. Blackiston of New Castle, DE, Mary Lou Newson of Milford, DE, Janet Riblett of Wilmington, DE, Rebecca L. Weaver of Hockessin, DE, Lois K. Klemkowski of Rehoboth, DE and Donna Otwell of Gulf Port Ala.; grandchildren Gabriel, Caleb, Austin, Izak and Zoe and step granddaughter Cassidy Beilburg (Eddie).

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 29 from 11 to 1pm in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross st. Galena, MD, where funeral service will begin at 1 pm. Burial will follow in Chester Cemetery, Chestertown, MD.
