S. ROBERT and NELLIE T. FOREMAN, died on Friday, July 13, 2012 in their home in Galena. Robert was 72 and Nellie was 80.

Robert was born on July 19, 1939, son of the late John and Julia Nickerson Foreman. He was raised in Fairlee and was a 1958 graduate of Chestertown High School. In 1963 Robert and Nellie married and moved to Galena. Robert worked for the Maryland State Highway Administration for over 30 years retiring as Bridge tender in Georgetown. He was a member of Salem U.M. Church in Fairlee and the Galena Vol. Fire Company.

Nellie was born on December 14, 1931, daughter of the late Louis and Sadie Tomlinson Schafer. She was raised in Blackbird, DE and attended Townsend School. Nellie helped care for her family members and operated a booth at the King Street Market in Wilmington, DE. She was a member of Scott Methodist Church in Blackbird.

They were friends of Old Union Church in Townsend, DE.

Nellie was preceded in death by 6 siblings, Louis, Sadie, Clara May, Margaret Carlisle, George and William Schafer.

They are survived by Robert’s brother, John Foreman and his wife Jean of Chestertown, MD, his sisters, Grace Gorsuch and Doris Raleigh both of Fairlee and Catherine Coleman and her husband William of Worton, MD; Nellie’s brother, Franklin Schafer and his wife Esther of Bear, DE. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 21 at 11am in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD, where friends may call after 10 am. Burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna, DE.
